7th Grade Catalina Camp

NEW CAMP INFORMATION 5/3/24
Dear Campers and Parents:

This will be our last memo before we board the buses for Catalina.  Please read carefully.  You may e-mail or call if you have any questions.

Please note:  Which camp (Toyon Bay or Fox Landing) students will be going to has not been decided yet.

    Arrive at Chaparral between 6 and 6:15 a.m. on Monday, May 20th.  (Buses leave at 6:45 a.m.!)  If you miss the bus, you may drive your child to the Terminal in Long Beach to connect with our group.  The boat departs at 9:00 a.m.
    Bring a sack lunch with your name on it.  It should be separate from your luggage.
    Students must wear long  pants, jacket, and tennis shoes on the trip to Catalina.  They should show up at school with these on.
    If you put on the medical forms that you use an inhaler or have an EpiPen for severe allergic reactions.  You must have them with you or you will not be able to go to camp.
    When you get to school: Collect 2 pieces of yarn (make sure they are your camp color (Orange for Fox Landing and White for Toyon) from a Teacher or Group Leader and tie it to your luggage (Yes, your name and
“Chaparral” should also be on both pieces of luggage)
    Check in with your Study Group Leader (Camp, Group #, Cabin #, and Group Leader will be posted the week before camp):
1.    Give him/her any medications (in a Ziploc bag clearly labeled with your name).  Do not give motion sickness pills to them, keep them with you.  Please keep inhalers with you…do not give them to group leader.
2.    Put your lunch (labeled with your name) in your group’s lunch bag.
    Remember that if you want to use a motion sickness pill, it should be taken one hour before the boat trip.  Keep this on you, not in your luggage.
    We will return to Chaparral on Wed, May 22nd between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Students will need to have made their own transportation arrangements home from Chaparral.
