Soundtrack of My Life 

Music is an integral part of our lives.  It motivates us, calms us, inspires us, at times irritates us and basically becomes the backdrop against which we live our lives.  Songs can bring vivid memories of persons, places and events from our own past and serve to document our thoughts, feelings and emotions at a given time or place. 

Your task is to choose 10 special songs in your life.  You can choose songs that remind you of a special person, time/event or place.  They also need to be from different artists.  You may need to research new artists.

You will be sharing these with the class so use your time wisely. 

Directions:

Part 1-Organizational Chart (Brainstorming)
______Step 1: Choose 10 parts of your life to include in your soundtrack.  Circle them on the organization chart on the next page.  You may come up with your own categories by adding to the other box at the bottom of the page. 

______Step 2: In the chart, write down a brief explanation for each of your ten choices.  For example, if you choose “Family Vacation” you might write down “summer, lazy, camp”.

______Step 3: Choose a song for each part of your life and list the song title and artist in the chart.  Remember that each song needs to be by a different artist, and lyrics that are crude, or derogatory toward a race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion are not okay.  Keep the songs school appropriate.

______Step 4: Decide an order for your soundtrack and write it in the organizational chart.  This could be chronological (from birth to present day), from least to most important, or anything else.  This goes in the last column of the chart. 

______Step 5: Come up with a unique title for your soundtrack.  List is above your organizational chart. You should not use “Soundtrack of my Life”.

Part 2-Visual Project
______Step 6: Using google slides, create a slideshow about the Soundtrack of your life.  Make sure you include graphics (pictures to make it visually appealing).

Slide 1: A photo of a physical drawing or digital piece of artwork that you create that serves as the cover of your soundtrack.

Slide 2: A very brief  autobiography.  (Use complete sentences).
Who you are?
Where are you from?
Who makes up your family/extended family (including friends)?
What are you interested in? (Music, sports, animals, drawing, cooking, etc).


Slide 3-12: Music Slides
On each slide you need to include the following information:Name of song and artistWhen it was releasedBriefly explain in 2-3 sentences what the song is about.A quote from the song -1 or 2 linesExplain why and how the song connects to your life.Insert an image or images to enhance you slide.Insert a link to the song.

You will complete a theory quiz in class on Wednesday.

Attend Concert 2, 3/4/22. You will be graded on attendance, participation, being a respectful audience member, how well you perform your music, etc.

Attend Concert 1, 3/3/22. You will be graded on attendance, participation, being a respectful audience member, how well you perform your music, etc.

Attend Dress Rehearsal, 3/2/22. You will be graded on attendance, participation, being a respectful audience member, how well you perform your music, etc.

Please complete this pass off by the end of the day, Monday, February 28th.

1. This quizzez assignment will be available until 11:00pm on Friday.  
2. You may reattempt the quizzez assignment as many times as you would like.  I will give you points based on your highest score.  I encourage you to take it multiple times.  
3. You must use your first and last name (real name) when completing the quiz so I know who you are when giving you credit.  
4. If you are absent please complete the quizzez assignment at home.

In class sing measure 10-12 on the bottom of page 4 on solfege or words.  I will give you a grade based on how well you have learned your part.

Watch the youtube video and answer the questions on the attached google document.  


If you are at home: When opening the google document go to file and select "Make a copy".  After you have completed the worksheet make sure to attach the completed form to the assignment when submitting it. 


If you are in class:  Complete worksheet in class and turn in on Monday.

In class sing the chorus of Schule Aroon on "da, da, da".  I will give you a grade based on how well you have learned your part.  Measure 11-16

This is not for any points, but is an opportunity for you to review rhythms that will be on your quiz tomorrow.  I highly recommend you play it a few times today to review.  The assignment will close tomorrow morning at 9:00am.  Top 3 scores will win a prize tomorrow in class.  :)

This must be completed by Wednesday, December 1st or I will pick your performance date for you.

Have a printed copy of the lyrics of your song, marked with who is singing when ready to hand in during class tomorrow.

This assignment is OPTIONAL and not worth any points.  If you would like to help design an option for our Winter Concert please submit designs to this google classroom assignment.  It is due no later than Wednesday, November 10th.

Song Lyric Submission for approval: The title of the song and sheet music/lyrics must be submitted on Google Classroom in the form of a photo or google document by November 10th at the end of class to receive full points. Students are responsible for finding copies of the sheet music/lyrics on their own. For each day the group has not been submitted sheet music points will be lost.



Attach the lyrics and song title of the song you are performing to this google classroom assignment and turn it in. 


Once you have chosen a a song and submitted you MAY NOT change your song.

Group may consist of 1, 2, or 3 people total.  Participants must be members of the choir/guitar program.  Group members must be chosen and submitted through google classroom in a google form by the end of class on November 9th in order to receive full points.  For each day the group has not been submitted, points will be lost. If you do not choose by November 12th I will pick your group for you.  You MAY NOT change groups after you turn in your google form.  Turn in this assignment when you are done in order to receive a grade.

You have a full week to complete this assignment.  All Memes need to be created and uploaded to this assignment on google classroom by the start of class next Wednesday, November 3rd to be included in the competition.  You must submit at least 1 meme to get credit for participation.  I will not accept more than 5 per individual.

I will be having you sing measure 1-18 in small groups in class on Friday for a grade.  Be confident singing your part entirely on your own. 

We will take this quiz during class on Wednesday, September 15th.  The study guide was completed today, Friday, in class.  Be prepared by reviewing your material in advance.

In this assignment you will be asked to write down a physical list every time you "fail" at the challenge and are exposed to music.  The challenge is to try to cut music entirely out of your life for a 24 hour straight duration.  Here are a few things to avoid for example although there are many more.


1. TV/Video games (music plays in the background-must be muted)
2. Tik tok/Instagram videos (mute)
3. Radio in car or in house
4. Department/Grocery Stores
5. Elevators
6. Cell Phones (ringtones)
7. Singing and humming
8. Other people singing/humming/playing instruments
9. Percussion instruments/rhythmic instruments


For homework you need to try your best to avoid all forms of music.  If you are unable to avoid music for these 24 hours then each time you make a "mistake" you need to write down the following things.
1. The time
2. What happened? (Be specific and detailed)


We will answer reflection questions in class when we have completed the challenge.
