This is your final week of assignments! This week will be a little different. :)
Read the instructions on the DL Curriculum below. This week you will
1. turn in your theory challenge scores
2. comment on your classmates compositions and answer my question in your noteflight group forum section
3. Add to our class playlist slide presentation.

Opent the DL curriculum below and read through your assignments for the week.
Click on the hyperlinks to access each document and to read the speicific instructions for each assignment.
You assignments are:

Zoom meetings on Monday and Wednesdays at 1:oo p.m

Open the DL Curriculum document below for the overview of assignments for the week. Follow the instructions on the document and click on the hyperlinks (the underlined words in blue) to access the music history, composition, and theory assignments and information. Continue to practice your instrument and work on your smartmusic assignment.
All assignments are due by Friday at 3:00 p.m. and late assignments will not be accepted.
Zoom meetings will be held on Monday and Wednesday according to this schedule. You will be let into your class at the following times:
12:30 Cadet band
1:00 Concert and Symphonic Band
1:30 Wind Ensemble
I am available on Fridays 1:00-1:30 for individual help.
Zoom codes will be posted 10 minutes before each meeting time. Please use appropriate and respectful online behavior when joining the meetings.

Hello Concert and Symphonic Band students :)
Here is another explanation about what you will be doing this week!

1. Open the Concert/Symphonic Band DL Curriculum and read over the assignments for the week. For those that like to work ahead, you may do so. Each week you will continue to practice your instrument, (log your practice time), AND, have assignments in music theory, music history, and music composition. Follow the schedule on the DL curriculum.
2. The personal online music journal will be a written assignment about a period or style of music and you will turn a new entry in every week. You will turn this in everyweek.
3. The music theory challenge score sheet will be something you can keep in your drive, and keep adding to it as you complete the exercises in the coming weeks. I will let you know when I would like you to turn it in.
4. The Elements of Music Worksheet will be used as a worksheet after you read the Unit about the Elements of Music. Turn it in in google classroom.

I know that these are unchartered waters for all of us, but I hope you will get something out of these assignments and learn some interesting things!

Please Fill out and turn in by April 9.

Students often ask me what they need to do to get ready for WInd Ensemble. Here is a preliminary way to find out. Check the boxes on the form and answer the questions. All who do this assignment will receive full credit.

Log in to your smartmusic account. The following assignments are due in January.
Due 1/31. # 87 (go for excellence) and #88 Looby Loo.
Due 1/17 # 64 Danish Roll and #65 Russian Sailor's Dance.

Fill in the form to log your practice hours. Answer all of the questions in the reflection thoroughly. Have you parent look over your answers and sign the form before you submit. Due October 4, no exceptions!

Read about Oceanus and create one illustration to represent his life, powers, or character.

Read the handout below and create and illustration for our program on October 22. You may decide to create an image of Boudica, an imagined scene in her life, or even a symbol of her or her story.

Read the band handbook attached. Print and sign the last page. Read the Grading policy. Sign , Print, and turn in Section indicated.

1. Describe your behavior in band today. How would you change your behavior to reflect 8th grade expecations?

Watch the video below that tells you about your instrument or instrument group. Take notes as you watch, filling in the google doc, and then submitting it on google classroom. Be prepared to share what you have learned with other students in your section

Take the survey below by choosing the answer that fits you the best.

Learn or sharps, flats and accidentals and key signatures by clicking on the link below. For your homework, print out the key signature exercise. Looking at the clef that you play (treble or Bass) Circle OR Highlight all of the notes that would be altered by the given key signature. Put you NAME ON THE PAPER and turn the homework into the band turn in box by Thursday, November 2.

Complete on google docs and then submit your work on google classroom. Do not send in an email as an attachment or in google drive.

Click on the Link below to see a slideshow and review information about steps and accidentals. Then, complete the exercise for the clef that you play on your instrument. When you have finished, create the progress report and send me the validation code.

Take notes on one of your practice sessions this week. And write your. It's on the Google doc attached here. Submit when done. Describe what you do when you practiced. How did you apply so,e of the tips we discussed about practicing in class to you music? Be specific. You may answer in sentences or use bullet points. (Tips were gradually increasing tempo, playing things slowly, repeating sections until they get easier, writing in fingerings, counting and clapping, etc.). Is there anything else you do to practice that is helpful?

Print and Complete this after you have made all necessary corrections to Worksheet #1. If you receive #1 back, you must correct and resubmit before going on to #2.

Tips: counts go like this; 1e+a 2e+a 3e+a 4e+a. Fill in one count per line, even if there is no note or rest underneath that line. We do not count like this: 1e+a 1e+a, etc.




If you requires copy because you cannot print at home, please let me know by class on Wednesday.
