Special Education

The Special Education Department at Chaparral Middle School provides a continuum of support to each special education student as outlined within their IEP. Many special education students IEP goals are supported within the general education classroom where a range of support is provided i.e. instructional aides, team teaching with educational specialist, collaboration and consulting with special education staff. In addition, there are some pull-out classes which provide small group instruction in specific academic areas i.e. math, study skills, language. The Special Education Department at Chaparral Middle School consists of 4 educational specialists, a speech and language specialist and a school psychologist. Each student is assigned a special education teacher as his or her primary case carrier.
