Our August 5th parent informational meeting about the upcoming school year with details on the following: 1) Distance Learning Schedule 2) Bell Schedule & Block Calendar 3) Student Expectations 4) Q & A

Hello, my name is Ron Thibodeaux and I am with Denise where is our assistant principal at the school and in our last webinar last week we said we were going to come back with some details there were a little bit more specific so that parents would have a better understanding of exactly what the school year was going to look like this year so we put together a little presentation Ewing has a lot of details that weren't covered last week it should help you navigate your cougar through the beginning of distance education here at Chaparral so we are going to get started we have a 243 participants out there listening thank you for participating today we're so happy to have you onboard and have you as part of our team so we're going to get through this presentation it's an overview of what we're going to talk about first we're going to already so we're good there to make sure that everybody knew that we are in a 100% distance learning environment and that. That is the way we are rolling out and think everybody knows that by now will review that a little bit we're also going to talk about what sorts of expectations that go along with students in a distance learning environment and in that atmosphere and more specifically than last week we are going to talk about the school schedule so that we can really share with you when the start of the day is when the end email specifically about our block schedule here at Chaparral Middle School and how we will be unrolling now and then we're going to keep this down to about somewhere between 5 minutes in an hour I hope so that we can take some questions at the end and not go to court she will be taking this recording and putting it on her website like we did last week as well so well next part year things we have been sending a lot of information out female Since Aaron is going to be done through email so he you are not receiving emails from us for whatever reason we have sent several of them over the past couple weeks so because you decide that you don't want our emails maybe we're going to your trash folder accidentally you could have redirected us for some reason or it's also possible maybe we do not have the appropriate website address that is to log into your child's Aerie's account and then make sure you can see what era what email address we have on file for you everything that we are sending you our email is going to be sent to that address I'm just going to give you an idea in the last several weeks we've sent you updates from the superintendent we've seen you a registration appointment information we have sent a text book distribution information recent maps about distribution and registration we have sent registration dates and times and appointments we have done it on time I mean we have been sending out Lots lots of emails and I can understand why you might want to put me in the spam list but have you received all of those emails but keep in mind in the distance setting this is the best way for us to get information and although it sometimes seems like a bit of a burden email is to we're going to get that information to you likewise teachers when they sent information about your child's classes it's going to be done in that way as well you're going to be receiving emails and they're going to go to that email address do we have on file so from teachers when they communicates you what classes are your classes are going to get your ears pierced reason I'm going to change gears here a little bit but we did have a registration and it was this time last week I was really exciting to see so many families and that we did not see the vast majority of you and I thank you for taking part in that I know that for some of you is that first trip you got out of the house in quite some time so that was flattering to be able to have to be that first human contact in quite some time but if for some reason you couldn't go I'm what you need to do to get your child's class schedule is not contact us about you no makeup day for registration we have made those registration schedules available to all parents in all students through Aries logging into your Aeries Parent Portal account will give you access to your child's classes so this is something you've done before in the past you just do that again and their classes are there on some of you have reached out to us and they want to know God you know I wasn't able to auto registration I still need to get my child's textbook how do I do that are there was an email sent out earlier today and so when I told you about your emails that you're getting from us there was one sent out today that I reminded you about raise for schedules but it also said if you did not have an opportunity to get textbooks your opportunity will be next week and there is a link that allows you set an appointment to come on campus or keep in mind campus is basically empty but we will schedule a time for you to come on campus and pick up your child book or your children's books or they can come over here on at school but we do need to have a parent available to bring their kid here to do that and that will happen at our library and you will be the one that schedules that time to email with the link for you to schedule the sent out today also we did have student IDs pictures taken and we are having those put together and we will be sending those out within the next couple of weeks either by mail or through another appointment that you can make here at the school because we do have some other things that we need to tribute out I'm for example we have your children did not get science textbooks yet that's because the science books that we are going to use this year are new near still being bar-coded and processed in your system and we have to figure out another way to get those out you so we will have another day where you can come to campus in the near future so we may give your children their IDs at that time or we may figure out a way to get them out to you in the mail so make sure you're looking at your email so you can get that information and if for whatever reason I believe I we counted earlier we have reached out to parents and eight different times to set up the Chromebook Motors and still they reached out and said that they just know they forgot for whatever reason you still need to get a loaner for your child and you know certainly it's great if you don't have to do that but if you do there is instructions on how you you. That is now centralized it's not something that's done Chaparral Middle School information was sent to you today in the email from this era right moving on to the next so you all know by now that the expectation is that our students are going to be receiving daily Li and function in their classes and so what we wanted to do is talk to you a little bit about what that might look like sure that you knew what the teacher's expectations were and what your child's requirements are why there are in that setting so these are things that you need to know are must this either State and contractually negotiated things I'm going to be sharing with you at this time every student is going to be a part of every class and there will be attendance taken every single day for the students will need to be available at the start time each of their classes log into a an electronic resource that communicate or WebEx like this one where did the teachers provide live synchronous instructions to the kids a part of that is going to be attendance because the state is requiring that all School attendance and take it to an incident report that attendance every single day so we will have an app that every single. The teachers will communicate that as part of their information to family so that will happen every single day single is synchronous learning so you know is why learning is maybe the teacher is giving a lecture in a similar sort of teachers will individually decide what is the best wait for them to deliver the content no communicate how that's going to happen to you and to your children and so there are a couple of different formats that you'll probably see a lot of Zoom is something that teachers use a lot of our teachers use Maybe resume before I'm it is a meeting format much like this one Google me is one is also been used a lot I know a lot of elementary school last year and it's very similar to this one right now and of course the format were using right now is whether so that's another format that is possible now one thing you also need to know is that too many parents have communicated that they would like to see one centralized format used to be able to deliver content and so on are teachers here at Chaparral will have some degree of Google Classroom that they use in all students will be subscribe to their teachers Google Classroom classroom to a different degree someone push out everything go to Google Classroom Google Classroom will automatically send emails out to all of the students that are involved it will give updates to the kids as the teachers updated on the classroom but they might not all use it everyday for everything you can contact teachers individually to get a little bit more detail on that but one thing I can tell you about how they will deliver messages to kids or their instruction is that everyone will have a Google classroom and it will be using that Google settings so keep that in as well everyday classes at Chaparral will begin at 8 a.m. and every day the classes will end by 12:30 p.m. on and they will be done I would breaks in between the we're going to go over that block schedule in just a little bit but in general 8 to 12:30 and then every day students will have a lunch. From 12:30 to 1:10 and at the end of every day we are going to have something that structure tutorial tutorial session is something where individual teachers can reach out to kids and they're going to say this number best boy so there's a student that needs a little bit of extra help and they're reaching out to that teacher and then eats an individual Guidance the teacher would make themselves available during the structure do. Tutorial time or this might be a time where teachers are just having like office hours or it could be a time where they're small group interaction between seven or eight members of you know that the teacher wanted to have intensive instruction with so the teachers will decide individually how they're going to use this for real time but every single day students are expected to be academically engaged through 230 it is possible that I'm certain days there might not be structured time in a particular teachers class after school on that day because this is also a time when she's yours aren't professional meetings here and they're not often but here and there but that structure tutorial time is when the teachers can be reached out to and given an individual house so that's what that is designed for as well so it's kind of like a follow-up what they learned earlier in the day all right so having said that that's what the live instruction looks like we need our students every single day to login time but they need to do so not with you know their favorite nickname you know I can't I can't put in you know I don't know I like to call mr. Thibodeau or or mr. t no I don't log in with mr. T when I'm logging in because every time that a student comes in the class we have to make sure that whoever's coming into the electronic classroom is the actual student Sony logging in and joining a teacher's pet with the name that is on their roster okay so whatever name that is their official name on the teachers roster need to use because if I put in the teachers going to leave me in the waiting room one of my students know Zoom bombs before or people that are not necessarily in the class infiltrating into into classrooms and doing hair appropriate things we want to make sure only the students from Chaparral that are supposed to be in a class are in that classroom setting up online at any given time so students are required with our legal name it is on there controller okay so on their official account the cameras need to be on every day as well you might ask I don't want my kid to have their camera on the whole time but the fact is that we make sure the the students are visible and this maybe this may be a little bit out there but it is entirely possible that maybe students would login to leave their cameras off and then turn the other room and watch TV or play video games and then come back an hour later I'm in the teach you whatever know that if the camera was not or let's just say you know Mom wants the student should be able to log into their class but they had to wait nine they wanted to sleep in a little bit more so maybe mom's logging in for the student instead of the student logging in and attending the classroom so so the Indians did the teachers can do an attendance check every single day for every single. Without that camera they are not able to do that so that is a requirement as well and we want our students to do in the classroom everyday call beso okay hello parents one of the things our teachers have asked us to go through a review with you is information that the district put out in regards to just as learning so pictures of big template that has a lot of informational pieces as far as what we hope students will get through the distance learning environment but we collapsed this to make it a little bit more user-friendly and on the next Green you will see a little bit more kind of bullet points for kids on every teacher is welcome to customize this but our goal is during this instructional time that the kids are focused and that this environment is friendly as possible we have the setup so kids know that while they're online whether it's Google a WebEx or zoo that students are arriving on time because the last thing we want to find out is that a student login I don't know 20 minutes into the class and somebody was waiting for them where they missed a big part of the classroom time so find a head just like this WebEx we asked you to plan by joining maybe 15 minutes ahead of time or let your computer get setup same thing for students wake up early log in at least two maybe 15 minutes before and then be ready for the instructional peace through the teacher we encourage kids to set up in a quiet place or there is a minimize disruptions in the learning environment for them so again teachers will provide some information a nice set-up would be somewhere where they can close the door and kind of be able to focus on the content is being delivered in the synchronous learning environment the third thing you'll see there is be prepared for human and it's possible that we think play dinner device the night before and then it charged and all of a sudden as a student you check in your battery is low and you get automatically your computer shutting down so things like that trying to do test run so you know that things are operating for your child presentation what are the things that mr. Thibodaux you'll notice he has a nice color shirt not saying should have to do that but we do want kids to be aware that you know they are home and so we're going to remind them that the John has might not be the best at Tire Havasu City straight and I'll be aware of what's in View mode many of these video conference schools allows the kids to setup a virtual background which minimizes disrupt Shopkins in the background again final practice and rehearse what's in view on the camera itself in this to conversations I have with a lot of students that you know being a student right now is your job when you are working a job when you dress the part and you play that role and as a student online you need to dress the part and play that role so coming out in your pajamas is really not the way to go that's not actually getting out in front of that with kids I think really allows independent maybe compartmentalize this whole idea of still having expectations for them to be a particular way without you don't even know they are doing this from home so well 7 is Laura reshaped that some things that you know you play call your own children and set up straight you presentable I tell my own children I don't want to see you maybe later cross the floor just too comfortable on the ground a during a lie synchronicity you know be visible and ready to learn within that camera view many of the teachers will remind the kids as I will encourage you as parents to have them use themselves so that if the teacher asked for any feedback practices more than likely the first few days of school to mute and unmute when they're able to participate with Thomas or question again it's a good practice mute yourself upon entry into the live synchronous learning environment fashion teachers each teachers going to redo that you know what does that look like they want them to be focused they want them to be attentive what does participation look like is that your child posting a comment on Google classroom in a discussion Point some teachers of share Google Slides kids are going to dialogue with the teacher about a lesson topic so make sure that there's Clarity on what participation look like for each classroom but encouraging them to be focused possibility this is something that kids have as a school account in the secondaries not necessarily at the elementary and so we want to make sure that kids aren't distracted so it's good to have this discussion with their kids and say you know what all that activity that a child is doing well they logged into their school issued Google account if we get notification so we really want kids to think this is a pro National learning environment don't take it upon yourself as a student to think that you've created your own separate chat room with other peers and that conversation goes out of control we want digital responsibility I'm getting stressed that Mr typical myself and the counselors we are monitoring the exchange of dialogue or comment on things that get posted and searched your child will getting web watch notification if anything is automatically star system of a degree of inappropriateness so please have that conversation with your child to always use proper language and to not assume that their activity is not trackable you want a great learning experience for them make sure that everything is in this lens of Stacy while they're online communication make sure that they're able to see clearly if you know it's a teacher can understand their question I'm very confident that the teacher last can you repeat question or can you post it in the safe Google Classroom platform again look up when speaking this is you know very new to many of them but you know that I contact is very poor and we're going to stay on topic this is why these presentations and I myself look to these greens and make sure we don't you know go out to left or right field and we want to make sure that it starts at what is this topic Point versus what if tomorrow's weather is just helped make sure that the kids know that you're on a classroom setting and follow the costume expectation to find my Yorkie and most importantly I believe he was be respectful of who's in this classroom environment if you are seeing your teacher and your peers in this learning environment please again know that you're being professional and be kind don't Segway into private conversations of the student did you see what you know X person Saturday thought Etc soapy consider it just like you would in the classroom environment so thank you I'm going to go ahead and click over this next Green this is probably something that will definitely see as a new schedule to them and block schedule for those of you that are 7th or 8th grade parents this is not it's not new to you you seen this before the only thing that is different this year is that the blocks of changed a little bit to the bell schedule at we've already sent out and I'll be reviewing with Miss Lou are here again in just a few minutes but this is our rotating block schedule if you send your kids through the registration line and they got to find reminder you saw an example of this we were actually going to use this year in that binder reminder and it's kind of explained a little bit without was published prior to the time that we knew we were coming back in a distant setting and we also knew that the before the association in the district bargained a different block schedule for for our sites and so we had to make some adjustments to that negotiation and that's what you're seeing here so it's very very similar to what we would say that the biggest difference is are that there are no late start days embedded into the year and what you're going to see is that instead in place of late start days you're going to see 6. Days a door yellow is a 6. Day everyday is red or yellow is a block. Day example and that is a minimum day and that's August and we go from 6. Day classes go to 12:30 but because it is a minimum day there is no tutorial signed at the end of that day but then if you go to the next day the 11th there is a 6. Day again and then again at the end of the day they have tutorial as a possibility so at the beginning of the year a lot of what will be scheduled after school is done probably going to be design around getting to know the kids and maybe some social things social emotional learning activities may be drawn up by our counselors and you'll get more information about that or teachers might do that sort of thing before they really get heavy into the content because as we set webinar our teachers want to make those social connections with the kids so that might be something. Schedule and this is what's confusing maybe to 6th graders or to a sixth grade parents because I've never seen this before but your kids get to that they figure is that really quickly largely because the teachers are going over it very very extensively I want to say the first 3 days that are 6. Days to ready them for that first block day but if you noticed right here on the 13th it says a 1-day and if you look in the top right corner there it says one day one day are three blocks that we're going to use as academic. Are 1/3 and 5 in that order and so students will begin their day in. 1 their neck last will be. 3 the next class will be. Bye and so on the next day the 14th follows that same schedule so you see it says B2 students will start their day at 8 a.m. in second. they will move over to 4th. And then go over to six. And so the blocks that we have and that are a team in a box 80 minutes for each of those are all I'm in that order on those days so as you navigate through you can see that each day is assigned a different title whether it's a three or beef 6 or a 5 and basically what that means is that there are we start with a different. on every single one of those dates asking yourself why do they do that why don't they just have one more reason we don't do that is because we know that all students have a prime-time when they learn their best some kids are morning kids not very many this guy was not very many of the Sora not so much so if I really struggled with math sing and I have first. Math that would be really good for me because I'm a morning person but it misses and she had first. Man that would be a struggle for her because she is not a morning person on the same TV sad for afternoon or maybe certain kids get squirrelly midday I mean there are different Prime times for every single student and we believe here at Chaparral wholeheartedly that the rotating schedule every single one of our teachers see their kids at their best and to be able to work with them while they're at their best and we can maximize potential because we see them at their best so we know what we can expect from them so that way are at their worst we know that what they're capable of and we can maybe push them a little bit more because we've seen him in a different light that might not sound you know full proof to you but I'm telling you haven't done this now for I think those are 12 year use rotating block schedule here at the campus it really works for us and teachers fully believe in it and I think that your kids will like that too if you've ever had kids that struggle at a particular time of day you understand what I'm saying and I think of you gif listen to understand what that's for but as you go through the schedule and so that they get it you can see that all of these class the gray ones are 1 through 6 generally the gray ones are on Wednesdays the only time you're not on Wednesdays on days when we have a holiday or a minimum day embedded into the week in which case we just refer to block schedules during that week and the rest of the days I mean it all speaks for itself so there's some information down at the bottom that's a legend obviously you know what this one does and what that one is and you can also see that the classes will start the same time every regardless of whether or not it's a block or a 6. Schedule so I think I've covered that I know you might be wrapping my head around this but I think most we got it we're going to go on to the next one by Linda Smith green Ed Sheeran view of what students have when they log into the school account they have a landing page called my portal and when they get to my portal every child for the first month is also going to stay in this calendar shared with all students part of their Google settings Google Calendar settings they can possibly login now and go to their Google Calendar so long as they're logged in again to their school account and it reminds the kids on this day going to go through through 6 it has a time frame for the start of each day and the nice thing is that it reminds them for the the students that are new to our school such as a sixth graders and then even use 7th or 8th graders church and they had class on August 18th and it's 84 day on this very day here you would go through and see that they go 80 minutes and forth. Than 80 minutes and six. And then another 80 minutes and seconds. Now I'm actually going to kind of state wait here for the kid and for the parents saying wait where is this going to exit here really quick we actually have this posted like a kid when they login to their school account they have landing page called my portal they had it since our elementary Daze and it continues over now it's just Chaparral instead of their Elementary School and it shows are updates and seeds that have been posted but here's a beautiful calendar that I constantly for June because every kid will be able to click on it and then get specifics and details to it again it tells me you're going from 8 to 12:30 on a 6. Day and then there's two more updates there they can click on each and get more information in regards to those rotating date so this will help them get organized okay I'm going to move over to the next week all right so this is the Abell schedule that I am I alluded to earlier what is the same thing again if you don't get my emails you better check those same emails that's the way it works but anyway this out the block schedule and I you can see that you know we've got to our first walk is starts at 8 so basically schools going to start everyday at 8 and is going to go for 80 minutes till 9:20 it will then have a 15 minute break to get a snack and going to their second 9:30 so if you noticed you know these are 80 minutes. the kids have a pretty substantial break in between so that's that's nice for them but sometimes the questions at the end of the previous and they're going to need to be able to answer those questions before having to log back in get to the next class and we just don't want those things to kind of roll over one another but let's just say for example that we have that block schedule and it's an A-1 day when it's an A3 day the question to you parents is what is first block that's right. So they will go to their third. Teachers class during first walk then they go to you are correct again. Very good and that's when food. We'll start at 9:35 after that 15 minute break and of course at the end of the day they will have no no no. 3. 1 . One at the end of the day on a 3-day so what I'm saying is you know you just have to know that depending on the day the block is going to shift and that's why if you notice it doesn't say first second it doesn't necessarily say he reads to four and six it shows you first block second block or third block that's what it's listing they're not a. But a block so depending on the data block is going to shut and so that's where we go back to that yellow and red map that we just went over a little while ago that has our block schedule every single day and of course most Wednesday The Chaperone call six. Notice at the end of each of these days there is that structure tutorial. Again this is teacher generated and the teachers will be communicating to your kids what they are going to be doing at the end of the day if your teacher not communicated anything to your student or more likely your student hasn't communicated to you what your teacher said they were going to do to reach out to you know my my student to really use a little bit extra help and I'm not sure you know when they can get that is there a structure time during tutorial that you're going to be able to meet with them and they'll be able to give you the information and let you know how you can get that extra is this so his teacher generated I look a little different based on the teacher but they do have plans for that and that is the time they will be doing this thing I will say that the one day that there will not be a great deal of structured tutorial time is after because that's when we have our staff meetings and the teachers are tied up in the staff meeting but some teachers may make themselves available at the latter part of that tutorial. On that day it ends on how long are meetings going so far the minimum days you can see is the exact same as the six. A the only difference is that there is no structure tutorial at the end of the day so the teachers are not available for that extra attention at the end of those those days on the minimum day forward and again this is the same thing it was sent you an email last week but it is also available on our website Chaparral Middle School. Org Chaparral Middle. Org if you have not gone to our website I highly recommend you do because you will find a copy of that block schedule a payment you put on a dart board there's a lot of cases for the red and yellow block scheduled and put it in your child work area so that on any given day they know where their block is supposed to be whether it's red or yellow or gray in that is available Chaparral Middle. Org as is the calendar that misses the where I showed you that students can access on any given day through there you also have access to all of that information as well because website Chaparral Middle. Org there is a calendar at the bottom of the page and the front page and all of the information from the calendar that this is the right here isn't that as well they're supposed to go to you can go to that calendar and you will see exactly what you're saying here okay so it is the 11 and we have a 136 day on the 11th or it is well today is the 25th that's a b 2. Okay that means. It's two 4 and 6 for my child today that's the block schedule for that day and again at our school website Chaparral Middle. Org it's the same location we're going badly a video from this webinar so if you really want to see it again so I doubt but if you really want to come and see it again you can cuz it will be embedded no I had to go back a little bit there miss Laura thank you for adults all right so with that do the 3M about we just got a new attendee right now it was funny we had 337 and then it said thank you for attending and then I went to 3:38 and then it went back 336 now there now they're down there going missing out because it's the opportunity to maybe add some clarifying clarifying questions that you might have so 10 minutes were you thinking is going where Cedar Point they're not going to miss anything this is being recorded it takes a lot of download and post but it will definitely be up and running on our Chaparral Middle. Org sometime this week hopefully sometime later today if not by tomorrow so we're opening up Q&A you as attendees in our live webinar 334 Plus have you are able to type in a question and we will try to get to them now and I see they're already coming in so thank you I'm going to scroll through the year Amazon go ahead and refer to that first question I will help moderated as you I have been doing here says what is 0. Day Zero. Basically I'm at the high school level and all the secondary schools in Walnut Valley Unified School District are using the same bell schedule at the high school's there are zero. Academic classes those zero. Classes take place at that time I'm we do have one 0. It is RSV class but that is something that we're kids are elected into it and takes place and information is sent out about that at the end of every school year so the only zero. Option we have. wrap-around is RSP class which is a non-credit plastic kids are involved in but I'm down as something that has been individually communicated to those students that apply for ASD and were put into that program okay our next question when will 6th graders get their science book okay that's a really good question our science textbooks are brand-new we just have an adoption over the summer we were hoping to have the adoption in r before summer process those books and get them out as part of our registration and textbook distribution initially unfortunately the textbooks are on there is all kind of delays which Transportation right now probably related to the coven prices and so they're just late in delivering the pallets and pallets and pallets of boxes of books is that within the next two weeks we have them processing them and we will be able to generate a plan to get those into the hands of the kids so hang tight on that one but we will probably do some sort of that this through appointment base distribution dogs in the process that process everyone's got have a barcode put on it every one of them has got to be inventory into our computer system and we have one part-time librarian the desk so does take a little bit of time we also have a question in there about my sons portal doesn't look like yours he has Square icons instead where would we find the Challenger my best advice would be if he opens up a new tab on his Google Chrome search he can open Google Calendar but this requires that he's logged into his school account and by clicking Google Calendar it should populate if it doesn't look like mine it's a little more Square view settings if you aren't happy with that take a screenshot send it into our helpdesk RIT found on our website for our technology department at the district and some kind of trouble shoot that for you all right another question when is advocacy so I'm having to see was something that was very specific to Chaparral Middle School they have similar a specifically drawn up classes that are homeroom classes at both Southpoint Suzanne but I just a moment ago I spoke to you about how every single Secondary School in the Des I needed to have the exact same schedule saw that your child was issued an advocacy teacher as part of their registration and technically they have an advocacy teacher that take place until we are back on campus in the distance setting why were using a district generated schedule that applies to all of the secondary schools and not the Chaparral we will not be having advocacy so again there is no advocacy current in distance when we come back to the school site we plan on implementing advocacy into what we do that and we're hoping that that sooner rather than later and we have some other what is expectation for how long students will be on Zoom video conferencing time for 80 minutes for each class weather Omid or whether right so is there is no there is no definition for that I can't tell you it's going to be the same but I just took it to some teachers about a little while ago some of them have talked about putting the kids on Zoom or a Google me or WebEx class. The teacher teaches in the lesson for the you know synchronously like we're talking about and then they give the kids something to work on individually so maybe that takes 30 minutes for them to you know each the lesson in and have the kids work on it we call that maybe guided practice so that they can work on it on their own and then so the teacher might take those first 30 minutes and do a live broadcast tell the kids okay go dark which means they're still logged in but technically you're not on camera why I why they go and work on things individually if they have a question they go they turn their camera back on and ask the teacher but then when they're back working individually again they go. again and then at the end of the. The teacher can say okay are you have 30 minutes to kind of work on that come back and let's talk about this and go over the questions and let's go to that and you know I'll tell you what you're going to do for homework depends on the way to the teacher wants to structure a lesson just like during the regular school year every teacher structures their lessons differently so for me to tell you that I'm not is not something I'm going to be able to do but I know that every teacher is in task to give your child a rigorous learning experience and that is what they are planning to do so I hope that helps you but it will be a variety of okay another question structure tutorial that mandatory or optional it is mandatory for kids they need to be available academically 230 what I mean by that is if the teacher says okay Miss Laura you're not doing so hot in my class and I need you to come back to my structure tutorial. from 1:15 to 1:45 today to get extra help and you're required to go because the students are on task until 2:30 that is when they're official school day end but if a teacher has not specified that a student has to be at a particular meeting after school then no they don't have to be just sitting around on in looking at an empty seat screen until 2:30 so really kinda depends on what's happening on any given day we also have another question my daughter is starting seventh grade and we just got registered is there a place we can go to find instructions on how to login Etc that's a great question for older students I knew 7th grader on her campus well to answer your question our teachers sometime this week definitely before the end of Friday will be communicating those instructions per teacher forever child as far as login access some of them have actually already begun sending those notifications out to each student through their Google Classroom again parents you will be getting a mass email assort coming from the the teachers Aries messages and it there will be instructions regarding each. Her teacher as far as accessing the online portal and information we have questions when do the students get their student ID yeah I'm so it kind of talked about that little bit earlier I think I'm so I would ask a I may be going to go through the video again but like I said we're going you get those out within the next couple of weeks were hoping we're in the process of having them printed there's a part of me that says I'd like to mail them out but anytime I do a mailing I discovered that many of our parents have the wrong address on file and with the IDS that means that they disappear forever I think that there's a really good chance that I will connect it to our science textbook distribution which I just explain a couple of minutes ago Chiloquin students coming to pick up their science textbooks they will also get their IDs IDs in the interim to get their lunches or do anything that they need to do on campus Because the barcode that is if to the student in last year's ID is unique to the student not to the school or to the year so they can continue to use last year's ID because it still identifies them individually okay we have another thank you for those of you saying I appreciate that we appreciate those comments to I have a question here that says calendar for this schedule isn't on the student portal website the calendar is on the students my portal so when they login say using chrome chrome be your web browser make sure that they're on their school account and then they have to search my portal should be there Landing again we can help clarify that I just you know sending us a screenshot and emailing it to us so we can see what your child but it is part of and again it should also be part of the Google Calendar so long as their login to their school account sometimes what happens is you share device at home and has a Gmail account and the child has your school account you're both login as users and so it is kind of a conflict there in recognizing who logged in I recommend signing out of your personal Gmail account so that you know you are browsing through the student account noticing some questions about the structure tutorial and the parents are wondering how a student might be like let's say require extra attention for the student and I do it the same time and how is the kid going to be able to do both that is a fair question what we have to do to get it to our teachers we've given them guidelines here that we've requested that they follow so that each. Is identified particular time where students will reach out or were teachers will reach out to the kids by. So let's say hypothetically that.. Ones structure tutorial is always on Monday from 1:10 to 1:30 then that's when. Want to toriel's will always be. 2 tutorials will always be at a particular time and that's not to say that a student is going to be required to do something for that. every single time but they could and our that is unique to that teacher so we've already put some some safeguards into effect here at the site so that teachers are not scheduling multiple requirements for students I'm that's a really good question I'm just responding to a question here again just clarification on the schedule on the Challenger on mentioning that the teachers are going to Again by Friday will send out an email clarify first. During this time to this time and things like the link that they'll report to or directions to the Google Classroom will be part of that so that calendar on the first three days of teachers of anticipate going to do a lot of guidance for the kids to get adjusted to you know where all of this is at online but again look to that communication is going to come out by this Friday I'm seeing a question that says that where is the calendar and schedule posted as of right now only the 2019-20 schedule is posted so I'm going to refer back to Chaparral Middle. Org website you will see here or schedule again this was shared in the presentation earlier you can print that out at a chat to your refrigerator or maybe take the next to the your child's laptop so that they have that reference and as I mentioned in our Q&A these are details that the teachers are going to go over in their email at least weather reporting following week all right we got another question and it with parent wondering how PE and choir going to be handled with distance learning you know that is a it's something that we were talking to our choir teacher about just a little while ago because you know that they know that that's going to be challenging as well and how are they going to do synchronous instruction with the kids and you know there cuz they're coming up I wish I was kind of chuckling with your 8th grade teacher earlier about how I expect him to be doing a yoga with the kids I want to see it on video or a hundred Zoom we can lead it through it and they're all doing the same but you know it's it's going to be a challenge for them I'm not going to lie I'm not going to say that it's going to be easy what those classes are going to require a lot of our parents to do their fair share of making sure that students are due things that they're supposed to be doing on their end so for example during a class the teacher might say okay you guys you know what we're going to do our warm-up so maybe it'll take role maybe it'll actually leave the kids and stretches and getting them how do you go and go do some physical activity and maybe who knows what they're going to ask him to do but they're going to have count on the kid that actually follow through and do what they're supposed to do in the past PE classes of used activity logs where the kids say that they've done certain activity they walk it into like a Google form the teacher has the log of what the kids say that they are doing and the parents verify that log my kids have done these things but are they might they might do a common a one of those sorts of things you know music classes will do those sorts of things in bed some other things as well so I'm trying to get that fixed up and ready to go and you know I'm not going to lie it's going to be a challenge for they're going to give it their all they're going to give it their all Miss Laura will they get email communication about it and yes more than less likely the teachers will send out information as far as signing up for an appointment to pick up there science the new science book and or a band workbook yeah yeah and if it's not a work what you're talking about but you're maybe talking an instrument just thought I'd talk to the the music teachers little while ago they're going to be likely setting appointments with every student that needs an instrument and you'll be coming to campus during your appointment time to pick these items up and then you know you'll have them in your possession at that time so yeah unfortunately in a week we don't have a you know Amazon service that can deliver to everybody's house so that requires our parents to actually take the initiative to get down to campus to pick up the materials we really don't have any other way of doing that but we will we will get that information again I can't stress this enough your students and you need to check your email regularly to get information from the campus about what's going on all right looks great we thank you for participating lives again we had many I think a big part of the time if you watch this later and pause a review you'll see that many of them were address anybody asking about new password reset please reach out by going to our district on there you will see that there is a technology option and you can send them a technology questions for support thank you on behalf of all our Chaparral staff we're happy that you were here to participate with us will see you guys later oh by the way we'll see you next week back to school night will be doing this again all right.
