PART 2:
Answer the following in your OWN words using COMPLETE / SCIENTIFIC sentences
        - remember to use C.E.R. format (format found at the top of the assignment)
                > that means THREE (3) sentences MINIMUM

                        - the 3rd sentence is the most important

A) Los Angeles, CA and Phoenix, AZ are at the same LATITUDE. But in the summer, it
     is only 85º outside in L.A. while it is 110 º outside in Phoenix. If both cities are the
     same distance from the equator, then latitude can’t be the reason. So, why are they
     different temperatures? Make sure to explain what is going on…

B) Southern California and Florida are about the same distance from the equator. They
     are both right next to the ocean. So, they should have the same type of climate year
     round. But they don’t. Florida is much warmer in the Winter. That’s why people love
     to go there during Winter Break.
          What is probably the main reason that Florida has beautiful warm weather in the
          Winter. Make sure to explain how this situation works…

A) LATITUDE means the distance north or south away from the equator. Because of latitude,
the Earth is divided into three (3) climate zones in the north and three in the south. Explain
why these zones are different and how these climate zones are formed.

B) CLIMATE is how hot and wet an area is averaged over the entire year. GLOBAL WINDS
play an important role that contributes to different climates around the world? Explain their
role/how they contribute in doing this. Be specific.

A) In language, letters make words and words make sentences. The DNA language only
has only 64 “words” (codons). But those 64 words can still help the cell make 1000’s
of different instructions/recipes (genes) for a protein. How is that possible?

B) What is the purpose of substituting Uracil for Thymine, when making mRNA?

C) Sometimes there is a mistake made during the DNA copying process. A mutation is
     when the sequence of bases gets changed in some way. This makes the gene
     (recipe) different.

     Some mutations are bad. Some mutations can be good. Most mutations don’t change
     anything. Explain why the protein being made might NOT change, even though the
     “recipe" has changed.
            - HOWEVER... do not include "because the cell fixes the mistake" or "because the
              cell kills itself instead". What is another possible reason?
