Cadet Band

 

This year we will focus on improving the skills on     our instrument, including increased range and control, playing with a      characteristic tone, supporting the sound with airflow, technical facility,      note-reading, rhythm reading, playing together, and balancing the sections of      our band by adding instruments like tuba, trombone, euphonium, french horn,      oboe, and bassoon!  We will be working from our book Standard of      Excellence I, although we will work much faster than in 5th grade and zero in on    developing correct habits as a band.

 

 

INSTRUMENTATION:

The goal for each band is to have balanced instrumentation, which includes the following instruments:

flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, bassoon trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone, tuba and percussion. Some of these instruments are available for students to borrow during the year, providing that parents sign a loan agreement.

Parent Portal:

 Every parent and student has to the Aeries Portal to see their grades. Grading will be updated approximately once a week.

 

When you complete your Smartmusic assignment, please keep this in mind and do not expect your grade to appear on parent portal immediately. If you do not see your score on parent portal after a week or so,  please feel free to remind me about it via email. Students who complete their Smartmusic late will still receive full credit, but the score may not appear in Aeries until I have a chance to grade late work.
